What You Can Expect During Your First IV Therapy Session

When you’re thirsty, you probably reach for a glass of water — but quenching your thirst isn’t all water does for you. Drinking water plays a pivotal role in promoting heart health and kidney health. Proper hydration boosts your brain performance, too.

Adequate hydration is essential for your health, which makes dehydration a serious condition. Intravenous (IV) therapy is an all-star when it comes to combating dehydration. That’s why the providers at True Potential MD are proud to offer IV therapy to treat dehydration. We also offer IV therapy sessions to address vitamin deficiencies, fatigue, and other conditions.

Here’s what to expect at your first IV therapy session.

First things first: Your consultation

There are many types of IV therapy. Depending on your needs, you can receive a specific combination of fluids, vitamins, or nutrients. However, before you can receive IV therapy, one of our providers talks with you determine which nutrients or vitamins you need most and creates a customized treatment plan, including how often you need IV therapy to address your specific conditions.

Here’s the best part: You don’t need to come back on another day for your first IV therapy session. You can undergo this beneficial therapy right after your consultation so you can start feeling your best as soon as possible.

What is the IV therapy process like?

Our IV therapy sessions are similar to the IV drips you’ve seen in a hospital setting. During each session — right in our office — your provider inserts a catheter into your vein. The IV fluids flow from a bag through the tube and into your vein so the nutrients get directly into your bloodstream.

While the initial placement of the IV line may pinch just a bit, some individuals don’t even notice it. The treatment itself doesn’t hurt.

Keep in mind that IV therapy isn’t an injection. Each therapy session can take anywhere from 45-60 minutes while the fluids enter your system, but you remain comfortable during this time. Feel free to nap, play games on your phone, or read a book.

Are you ready to feel your best?

IV therapy can be a great way for you to boost your energy, replenish your fluids, or address vitamin deficiencies. IV therapy often delivers speedy results because the nutrients go straight into your bloodstream rather than having to navigate your digestive system as oral supplements do.

At True Potential MD, we want to help you feel and look your best — and IV therapy can be a beneficial part of your health regimen. If you’d like to learn more about IV therapy, schedule an appointment by calling 253-200-5678 or using our online booking system.
